E-commerce end-to-end site build
This was a complete site build for Firetop.co.uk.
I had to overcome firstly the problem of layout, completed in table-free XHTML/CSS in order to have the main content on the site first on the page, optimised for search engines.
The URLs on the website were rewritten in order to provide a directory like format (as they are on this site), as an alternative to otherwise indecipherable URLs .
This was to make URLs guessable and also to allow easy access for search engine spiders.
A content and stock management system was written in order to allow smooth upload of stock catalogues of tens of thousands of records to be updated by the client, to be displayed automatically on the website.
I wrote a complete basket system to allow purchase via the website of one-off items and a customer registration system, allowing the client to manage these records and keep their customers up to date.
